About the Red Lodge Area

Red Lodge, Montana, is located about an hour northeast of Yellowstone National Park on the east slope of the spectacular Beartooth Mountains. The drive over the Beartooths from Red Lodge to Yellowstone has been noted by Charles Kuralt as the most scenic highway in America. Outdoor recreation abounds with over a million acres of nearby National Forest with hiking trails, streams and lakes surrounding the spectacular Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Area. An 18-hole golf course and a recently expanded family ski area round out the area’s year-round attractions. The ski area offers 2,400 vertical feet and seven lifts serving about 1,600 acres.

Red Lodge has a current population of about 2,300 and serves as the county seat for Carbon County, which has a population of about 9,200. Logan International Airport is located just an hour away in Billings and offers jet service from Northwest, Delta and United Airlines to most major cities.
